HORTIKI LOVES PLANTS AND PLANTS LOVE

Hi and thank you so much for visiting!

I'm Dr. Victoria LeBeaux.

Owner, founder, (and janitor) of Hortiki Plants.

On this page you'll learn more about how Hortiki Plants strives to plant love in all that we do.

And if you want to know more, you can take a deep dive into the why of Hortiki Plants.

Thanks so much for being here and please don't hesitate to reach out if you there's anything else you'd like to know,

HORTIKI LOVES YOU

Hortiki and I want to help you live your best plant life, no matter how small your space or how little gardening experience you have.

Hortiki supports your entire gardening journey through our: science-based edible gardening blog; edible gardening resource library (50 pages strong and counting!); Hortiki TV videos; 100% Fearless Gardening Guarantee; and one-on-one customer support.

Hortiki Plants' Eco-friendly Edible Gardening Kits are simple and carefully designed for beginner container gardeners.

But purchasing a kit is only the beginning.

You can do this! We've got you!

HORTIKI LOVES THE PLANET

I know you want to garden in an earth friendly way but may struggle to find the right materials. I have a PhD in sustainable agriculture and love reading about this stuff, but you shouldn't have to!

I will do my best to source the most eco-friendly materials I can find.

That means minimal use of plastic, materials made from plants, printing on recycled papers using vegetable based inks, and packaging from recycled materials.

I'll also try to source local whenever possible and from trustworthy organizations.

HORTIKI LOVES GIVING

You love to support businesses that serve and help communities. Hortiki is of the same heart and mind.

5% of Hortiki Plants' profits are donated to organizations helping people and communities grow.

THE WHY OF HORTIKI PLANTS

Ok, quick question:

Have you ever started a sentence with the phrase:

"I love plants but..."

or

"I wanted to start a garden this summer but..."

or

"I should get more houseplants but...".

If so, THANK YOU for being here.

You are validating every late night I have spent building this business. A gardening business I am creating for people who aren't actually gardeners.

If you love plants but aren't sure where to get started?

You are in the right place.

Why? Because I have been there!

God has truly blessed me with opportunities to pursue education and a career in something I love. I've trained and worked in agriculture and sustainability for  15 years. I've earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics, a Master's degree in Agricultural Economics, a Certificate in International Agriculture, and a PhD in Sustainable Agriculture. I spent five years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture managing a multi-million dollar portfolio supporting research and education in agricultural science. I've done research around the world in agroecology and environmental conservation.

But guess what - that doesn't mean I have the perfect plant life.

Moving abroad to study and research sustainable food systems has been amazing. I've learned a lot, picked up languages, and made great friends. But I also got used to living in a temporary way. I rarely gave myself permission to invest time, money, or care into my living or office space. I kept saying I would "one day" until I realized that all we have is today.

I decided that today I'm going to pursue my very best life. For me that means starting a business as I've dreamed of doing for years.

It means turning off the home design show, going to buy the paint and making my space look and feel the way I really want.

It means eating fresh fruit all day because I love it and it's my favorite food. And if fruit 'actually has a lot of sugar' (as declared by health and fitness bloggers the world over) - oh well.

Along the way do I kill plants? YES. Honestly, yes. All the time! HA!

Hustling to build a business is not easy. Especially when you try to still support your family, friends, church, and community.  The reality is that sometimes I am not a great plant mom. But I tell myself - Victoria - it's okay!

I want you to know it's okay too!

You don't have to be a gardening expert. You simply need to love plants.

We will work on all the rest together.

I created Hortiki Plants to:

Inspire you to transform your space and your life with plants.

Motivate you to get started now.

Educate you so that you feel secure that you are doing it right.

Equip you with the stuff you need without the stress.

I'm building this business on core values of quality, creativity, generosity, and service. If a few plants die along the way? We will get to work planting new ones.

So that’s it. Now you know a little bit about me, and a little bit about Hortiki.

Before you go, please join our email list.

I've heard that giving stuff away for free is a good way to get the word out about a new business (not sure why¯\_(ツ)_/¯). I don’t want you to miss out on any of the freebies - from bi-weekly gardening tips to complete kit giveaways.

Also, anytime you need help with a plant problem please don't hesitate to reach out on social @HortikiPlants.

I am not a gardening expert. I've already admitted to killing my share of plants. But I do spend more time reading about this stuff than most people on the planet. That has it's consequences (i.e. who is Game of Thrones?) but it does mean I am daily striving to serve you better and that I am here to help!

Plant Love for Life!

Victoria
